BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge seized heroin and prescription narcotics during an outbound exam.
On Monday, CBP officers encountered a vehicle being driven by a 30-year-old male United States citizen. During primary questioning the driver could not produce any valid identification and admitted to having narcotics in his vehicle. The male subject was then escorted to a secure secondary area for further examination.
During the subsequent vehicle examination, 0.5 grams of heroin within several small envelopes was discovered. Additionally, a small bag of 11 pills, later identified as Subutex and Xanax was discovered. The driver failed to produce a prescription for the pills. Further investigation by officers revealed that the subject was currently on parole from New York state for previous felony-narcotic convictions.
“The continued efforts by our dedicated officers have once again shown their commitment to keeping our communities safe,” said Port Director Jennifer De La O.
After CBP processing, the narcotics and subject were turned over to the City of Buffalo Police Department for narcotics possession charges.
