Border Patrol Apprehends MS-13 Gang Member

SALTON CITY, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a dangerous gang member on Friday evening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that one of the illegal aliens, a 33-year-old Mexican national, is a documented Mara Salvatrucha MS-13 gang member with a criminal history.The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m., when agents assigned to the Indio Station observed a vehicle performing a u-turn before approaching the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint.  Agents conducted a vehicle stop and determined that a United States citizen man was attempting to smuggle seven illegal aliens.  All occupants were arrested and transported to the checkpoint for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that one of the illegal aliens, a 33-year-old Mexican national, is a documented Mara Salvatrucha MS-13 gang member with a criminal history. 

The gang member is being held in federal custody for criminal prosecution.
