Border Patrol Apprehends Convicted Sex Offender

CALEXICO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a previously deported convicted sex offender that illegal entered the United States on Monday.

The 36-year-old man was apprehended by Border Patrol agents approximately 12 miles east of the Calexico West Port of Entry. The man was later identified as Juan Arriaga Nunez, a citizen of Mexico.

Border Patrol agents conducted a criminal record checks and revealed that Arriaga is a convicted sex offender charged for attempted sexual abuse of a minor. Arriaga was convicted for the sexual offenses and was sentenced in Oregon to serve six months in jail.

Arriaga is being processed for re-entry after removal as a convicted sex offender.
