CALEXICO, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station seized packages filled with methamphetamine in two separate events.
The first incident occurred Saturday evening at approximately 10:22 p.m., when a Border Patrol agent patrolling near the Calexico downtown area observed a small kettlebell shaped package wrapped in tape laying in the street near Frist Street and Dool Avenue. The agent exited his vehicle and inspected the package; the agent discovered a crystal like substance inside. The agent transported the package to the Calexico Border Patrol station for further investigation.
At the station, the contents inside the package tested positive for methamphetamine with a weight of .60 pounds and an estimated street value of $1,357.
The second incident occurred Sunday morning at approximately 5:30 a.m., when a Border Patrol agent patrolling near the Calexico downtown area observed a small package laying in the street on First Street near Mission School. The agent exited his vehicle and noticed it was a kettlebell shaped package wrapped in tape. The agent searched the surrounding area and noticed a second package inside the school’s fence. The agent seized and transported both packages to the Calexico Border Patrol Station for further investigation.
At the station, the contents inside the packages tested positive for methamphetamine, with a combined weight of 2.31 pounds and an estimated street value of $5,197.
The narcotic packages were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
