BROWNSVILLE, Texas – On Thursday, Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Border Patrol agents seized over 275 pounds of marijuana, valued at over $220K.
Yesterday evening, agents from the Fort Brown (FTB) Border Patrol Station located and followed shoe prints of several individuals into a brushy area in Brownsville, Texas. After following the shoe prints into the brush, they discovered two abandoned bundles of marijuana. During an extensive search of the area agents observed several subjects return to Mexico, but did not discover any additional bundles. The weight of the marijuana was over 153 pounds with an estimated value $123K.
Late last night, an agent from the FTB Border Patrol Station advised nearby agents that he had a visual of four subjects carrying bundles traveling north from the Rio Grande in Brownsville, Texas. RGV agents and FTB agents, along with a K-9, responded to the area and located shoe sign of the subjects leading to an abandoned trailer. Agents encountered and apprehended four illegal aliens and seized four bundles of marijuana. The weight of the marijuana was over 122 pounds with worth more than $97K. The subjects were processed accordingly.
The seized contraband was turned over to investigative authorities.
