Nogales CBP Officers Seize Heroin Worth $36K

NOGALES, Ariz. - A Chandler, Arizona, resident was arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle 2.5 pounds of heroin through the Port of Nogales.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Morley pedestrian crossing selected Saul Beltran, 22, for further questioning as he attempted to enter the United States. During the encounter, officers found three packages of heroin wrapped around his stomach and groin.

The drugs, worth nearly $36,000, were processed for seizure. Beltran was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
