Land Border Ports of Entry with Biometrics Technology

With CBP’s biometric facial comparison technology, inspections are now simpler for pedestrians at all land crossings. Whether it’s for work or pleasure, CBP wants to get you safely and quickly on your way. CBP is committed to identifying, adapting, and delivering innovative technology solutions to ensure your travel is safe, quick, and efficient.

CBP currently has 165 land border ports of entry (POE), of which 113 POE’s are using Simplified Arrival to biometrically process pedestrians entering the United States in addition to two CBP Preclearance locations in Canada. CBP is transforming travel through biometric facial comparison technology at these land border ports of entry.

  • Types of Biometrics Technology Available at Land Border Ports of Entry

    • Pedestrian: Biometric facial comparison technology used to process travelers entering the United States through land border ports of entry on foot. Used for processing entry into the United States and I-94s.
    • Vehicle: Biometric facial comparison technology used to process travelers entering the United States through land border ports of entry in personally owned vehicles. Biometric facial comparison technology is currently in testing.
