QB 17–129 2017 Additional Specialty Sugar Period 3(a)

October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2017


The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced in the Federal Register Notice Volume 82, No.11893, dated February 27, 2017 an additional allocation of 40,000,000 kg to the fiscal year 2017 Specialty Sugar tariff rate quota (TRQ).  Entry of this sugar (40,000,000 kg) will be permitted on March 1, 2017 under Specialty Sugar Period 3(a). 


Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time for all time zones.


The Trade may transmit the quota entry summaries in ACE on March 1, 2017 from 12:00 midnight local time until 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time only.

* If entry summaries are reported late (after 12 Noon EST or before 12 Midnight Local Time), they will not be included in the opening.

*Please ensure associated warehouse entries are not finalized or liquidated.  If warehouse entries are finalized or liquidated, please contact your local Port of Entry/Center for assistance.

To ensure reporting accuracy prior to establishing the Prorata Percentage, associated entries are held 72 hours.  Once the percentage is calculated for ACE filed entries will receive an AE message indicating the reserved or prorated quantity per reported quota line. 

Unique 9903 Harmonized Tariff Schedule Numbers (HTS) have been created and combined to the current tariff numbers, to identify Specialty Sugar Periods.

If entry summaries are misclassified, they will not be included in the opening.
