RGC Agents Encountered Two Large Groups and Seized Marijuana Over the Weekend

EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents encountered two large groups near La Grulla and disrupted a marijuana smuggling event with the assistance of Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers.   

On November 6 and 7, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents encountered two large groups totaling 283 migrants at the same location in Starr County. The groups were comprised of 44 family members, 58 unaccompanied children, and 181 single adults. The migrants were from Jamaica, and various Central and South American countries.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol Agents See Rise in Unaccompanied Children

DEl RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector encountered more than 160 unaccompanied migrant children from Feb. 4-11.

This fiscal year, between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2021, the Del Rio Sector has already encountered 2,280 unaccompanied juveniles, compared to only 1,305 during the same time last year.
