WASHINGTON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today that the Patrol Agent Entrance Exam will now have an online option. Starting Oct. 1, 2022, applicants at grade level 7 will be able to take the Logical Reasoning section of the exam either online or at a local testing center.

The path to becoming a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) attaché is rarely conventional. As CBP Attaché Paul Posner put it, “Being an attaché requires a specific combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.” However, each attaché has a unique journey to success.
WASHINGTON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection created a new Border Patrol Processing Coordinator (BPPC) position designed to perform administrative tasks related to processing individuals apprehended by Border Patrol agents. This position may also assume responsibilities for transporting individuals and property in Border Patrol custody, as well as custodial watch of detainees in hospitals. The BPPC position allows agents to more effectively focus on their mission of border security and safeguarding the American public.
Polygraph screening has been part of CBP’s vetting process since 2008, but in 2010, Congress passed the Anti-Border Corruption Act requiring the agency to use the polygraph to vet all law enforcement applicants. Then in 2017, President Trump issued an executive order directing CBP to hire at least 5,000 Border Patrol agents in the coming years.
