CBP has proposed to design and construct up to 20 miles of new border barrier system in Starr County, TX. The proposed project includes 18-foot high, six-inch diameter bollards embedded into a movable, concrete, jersey barrier-style base. Other system elements of the proposed project include the following:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will begin construction this week to replace the deteriorated primary fence at the U.S. Border Patrol’s (USBP) Friendship Circle Project, which is situated along the border in San Diego, CA near Friendship Park. The secondary fence replacement construction, which was announced on February 13, 2023, is nearly completed.

CBP has proposed border barrier remediation projects in San Diego County, CA, Imperial County, CA, Yuma County, AZ, Hidalgo County, NM, and Luna County, NM.  CBP is conducting environmental planning concerning the proposed projects, including planning and analysis pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
