CBP Laredo Sector Border Patrol agent involved in a shooting incident

On January 13, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a Laredo Sector Border Patrol agent was working his assigned duties near Lowry Drive and Father McNaboe Park when he encountered a Green Ford Expedition picking up a group of suspected illegal aliens. While the agent attempted to apprehend the subjects, the driver of the vehicle attempted to strike the agent with the vehicle, prompting the agent to fire his Service weapon at the driver to stop the assault. The driver fled the scene and the suspect vehicle was later found in south Laredo. There were no injuries reported in this incident.

CBP Statement on Agent Involved Shooting Near Progreso

PROGRESO, Texas– On December 29, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agent was involved in a use-of-force incident east of the Progreso Port of Entry in Progreso, Texas.  The agent was responding to a report of multiple subjects illegally crossing the border.  An incident occurred while the agent was attempting to apprehend two subjects and the agent discharged his weapon.

Incident at San Ysidro Port of Entry Results in Fatality

There was an incident this afternoon at the San Ysidro Port of Entry at about 2 p.m. that resulted in fatal injuries. A 27-year-old male, driving a grey sedan traveling northbound from Mexico at a high rate of speed, collided with a metal arm gate in a closed vehicle lane. There were no other injuries reported on the U.S. side. California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. 

CBP Statement on Agent Involved Shooting in New Mexico

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at approximately 9:30 A.M. MST., U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents from the El Paso Sector initiated a vehicle stop on a silver Chevrolet Impala attempting to circumvent a U.S. Border Patrol immigration checkpoint located on HWY 185 near Las Cruces, New Mexico, where the vehicle failed to yield.  The vehicle pursuit began and a male suspect fired multiple gunshots at agents. Agents returned fire.
