Agriculture Trade and Cargo

CBP and the trade community work together to secure imports and exports from a multitude of threats. Agriculture threats in the cargo environment are a risk to crops, livestock, the food supply and ultimately, the American economy. CBP cargo inspections cover pests and diseases, contraband, wood packaging materials, soil contamination, regulated garbage and hitchhikers.

CBP Buffalo Reminder of ESTA Requirement at Land Border Ports of Entry

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has expanded Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) requirements to land ports of entry. This change extends the electronic collection of information requested on the paper Form I-94W to Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travelers who intend to travel to the United States by land.

CBP Phone Scam Continues to Target Citizens Callers seek information to bypass financial protocols

HOUSTON – Telephone scammers are targeting residents nationwide to gain personal information that would bypass financial security protocols.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees are continuing to receive numerous calls from people concerned about unsolicited calls from scammers posing as U.S. Border Patrol agents and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

CBP Announces Opening of New Temporary Processing Facility in Otay Mesa, California

SAN DIEGO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection today announced the opening of a new soft-sided facility in Otay Mesa, California. The facility’s primary purpose is to safely and expeditiously process individuals in U.S. Border Patrol custody.

CBP consistently evaluates operational requirements to determine if additional temporary facilities will be needed. The new facility on Pogo Road, will have a holding capacity of approximately 500. 

Calexico East Port of Entry Resumes Hours of Operation

CALEXICO, Calif., — U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials announced today that they are amending the hours of operation at the Calexico East Port of Entry (POE), will resume to normal operating hours.

On Monday, Dec. 19, CBP will resume its normal hours of operation from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Calexico East POE. CBP will continue to operate its SENTRI Trusted Traveler Program vehicle lanes during that same timeframe to better serve the surrounding communities.
