Within hours of the news that Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed, the city of Detroit and the Detroit Red Wings reached out to the Border Patrol family to show their support for the fallen agent, who was a native of the Detroit area.
In an effort to show their appreciation for the Border Patrol, the Red Wings had a dedication in honor of Terry before the start of the Wednesday's game at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Two Detroit Sector agents were brought onto the ice before the game and recognized while the 20,000 fans were informed of the death of Agent Terry.
"My heart goes out to all of the Border Patrol family," said recording artist, Karen Newman, who performed the national anthem at the game.
Terry will be laid to rest on Dec. 22 in Flat Rock, Mich
