A pregnant female from Honduras was apprehended in McAllen, Texas Monday morning and delivered a stillborn baby later that day. According to initial reports, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended and processed the woman for improper entry June 24 near McAllen, Texas. She was medically screened at the McAllen Central Processing Center and determined to need medical attention.  She was transported to a local hospital where hospital medical staff were unable to detect a fetal heartbeat.

Initial reporting indicates that at approximately 2:45 a.m., on Monday, June 17, the Las Cruces Border Patrol station, part of the El Paso Sector, received a request for assistance from Las Cruces central dispatch after a Las Cruces Police Department officer had been shot by an unknown subject near the intersection of Lohman Boulevard and Telshor Avenue. A general description of the subject was shared with Border Patrol.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents in New Mexico responded to a shots fired call from the Las Cruces N.M. Police Department (LCPD) today at about 4 a.m. (MST). Upon arrival to the area, the agents assigned to the El Paso Sector’s, Las Cruces Station located the subject near a local store.  The subject fired at agents and officers, Border Patrol Agents returned fire with their service issued weapon, striking the subject.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., on Monday, June 3, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the San Ysidro port of entry, along the San Diego/Tijuana border, engaged a subject with deadly force after he fired multiple gunshots at the CBP officers in an attempt to evade inspection by failing to stop. The subject, a 23-year-old male U.S. citizen, did not survive. CBP officers with EMT training, and other medical personnel on site, provided immediate medical aid to the subject until San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel arrived on scene.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 3, a white pickup truck arrived at the San Ysidro port of entry, along the San Diego/Tijuana border to enter the United States.  The driver failed to stop for an inspection and there was an officer involved shooting.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is cooperating with investigations by other law enforcement agencies.  Per CBP policy, the agency will also conduct an internal review of the incident.

According to initial reports, U.S. Border Patrol agents from Del Rio Sector apprehended a woman today after illegally crossing the border in Eagle Pass, Texas, at 6:20. a.m., CDT. The woman collapsed at 6:45 a.m. shortly after arrival to the Eagle Pass South Station. Agents and Officers quickly initiated emergency medical care until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at 6:55 a.m. EMS continued emergency care and transported her to a local hospital. Despite all efforts to save the 40-year-old woman’s life, hospital authorities pronounced her deceased.

According to initial reports, U.S. Border Patrol agents from Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended a man near the border in Roma, Texas, at 12:10 p.m., CDT. Shortly after taking him into custody, agents called Emergency Medical Services after they observed signs that the man was suffering from an apparent seizure at 12:22 p.m. An EMT-certified Border Patrol Agent quickly initiated emergency medical care until EMS arrived at 12:29 p.m. EMS continued emergency care and transported him to a local hospital at 12:45 p.m.

WASHINGTON - A 16-year-old Guatemalan national passed away this morning at the Weslaco Station in the U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector. According to initial reports, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended and processed the juvenile for illegal entry May 13 near Hidalgo, Texas. He was transferred from the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s Central Processing Center to the Weslaco Border Patrol Station Sunday and due for placement with Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement. He was found un-responsive this morning during a welfare check.

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector encountered a vehicle that failed to yield on Highway 83 south of Rio Bravo, Texas, Friday at 4:02 p.m. EDT. Agents deployed a controlled tire deflation device, and as a result, the driver of the silver GMC pickup truck stopped the vehicle. Multiple subjects then bailed out of the vehicle and into the surrounding brush. Agents apprehended 11 individuals who attempted to flee, including the driver who is a juvenile, U.S. citizen. Additionally, agents encountered an individual in the cab of the truck who was unresponsive.

LAREDO, Texas – Sunday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo Sector were fired upon by unidentified individuals while on patrol near the Rio Grande river bank. While patrolling the river bank, agents observed a group of individuals across the river on the banks of Mexico, and were able to determine that one of them was carrying what appeared to be a long firearm. Shortly thereafter, the agents were fired upon and took cover. None of the agents were injured. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local law enforcement organizations responded to the scene.

A Mexican national previously apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection passed away this morning at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas. According to initial reporting, a 45-year-old Mexican national was apprehended by United States Border Patrol agents for illegal re-entry on Feb. 2.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is releasing the details of the death of a child that occurred after being apprehended for illegal entry with her father along the southern border in the El Paso Sector. The Guatemalan government was notified immediately following the child’s death. CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility and the Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General is conducting a review. Out of respect to the family of the deceased, CBP did not issue a statement regarding the child’s death at the time of the death.
