    Initial information indicates that today, at approximately 4:40 a.m. CST,  U.S Border Patrol agents patrolling in the area of Van Horn, Texas, were involved in a failure to yield that resulted in a rollover accident.  Injured subjects have been transported to the local hospital.  The Office of Professional Responsibility and the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the accident.

    On June 6, 2021, a local resident contacted the Brownsville, TX Border Patrol Station regarding the presence of several suspected migrants.  After Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) responded to the area, a passerby told them a person was hiding behind a nearby shed. The BPAs approached the shed and discovered a male Mexican Citizen unresponsive and exhibiting labored breathing. BPAs rendered assistance and notified Brownsville Emergency Medical Services (EMS).  Brownsville EMS transported the man to the Valley Regional Medical Center (VRMC).

    On May 25, 2021, United States Border Patrol personnel assigned to the Carrizo Springs, TX Border Patrol Station were notified of a 911 call from a subject who stated she and another individual were attacked by bees.  The caller stated that her travel companion was experiencing an adverse reaction to the bee stings.  Border Patrol Agents responded to the GPS coordinates obtained by the 911 call.  Upon arrival, the agents located two individuals, one of whom, a male Mexican Citizen, was unresponsive.  An agent removed the man  from the immediate area of the bees and requested Emergency…

    A Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agent was arrested in Laredo, Texas, on May 21, after being indicted by a grand jury.  He has been charged with felony offenses related to transporting undocumented individuals for private gain.  The agent who was arrested entered on duty in 2008 and is currently on indefinite suspension.

    On May 14, 2021, at approximately 10:15 PM, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the El Cajon Station attempted to stop a vehicle suspected of being involved in migrant smuggling in Campo, California. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield, and after a brief pursuit, the vehicle stopped in a gas station parking lot at the intersection of State Route 94 and Buckman Springs Road in Campo. A confrontation ensued resulting in three Border Patrol agents discharging their firearms. The male driver of the vehicle was struck, and agents immediately requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

    On April 29, 2021, at approximately 1:00 PM CST, two migrants were run over by a Border Patrol vehicle in Kenedy County near Kingsville, Texas.  One migrant, a male Honduran national, died on the scene as a result of his injuries.  Another migrant was transferred to a hospital in Harlingen, Texas via air ambulance and was discharged later in the day after medical personnel determined he did not suffer any serious injuries.

    At approximately 8:30 PM on April 15, 2021, Border Patrol Agents were notified by a member of a migrant group that a female was in medical distress near the Rio Grande in Hidalgo, Texas. Two agents immediately responded to the area, just west of the Hidalgo Port of Entry, and located an adult female who was incoherent and in medical distress. The female was traveling with her adult daughter and two juvenile children. Border Patrol Agents summoned Emergency Medical Services to better assess the subject.

    On April 15, 2021, approximately 40 miles from the U.S./Mexico Border, near San Manuel, Texas, a Border Patrol Agent initiated a traffic stop on Highway 281. After approximately 30 seconds, the vehicle yielded, and several occupants reportedly fled.  The agent reportedly approached the vehicle and detained the driver, who was a juvenile United States Citizen.  While the agent was detaining the driver, one of the fleeing occupants was crossing the highway and was struck and killed by a civilian vehicle.  No other occupants from the vehicle were located.

    On April 15, 2021, remote cameras monitored by the U.S. Border Patrol, near Hebbronville, TX, captured a Toyota Tacoma containing multiple people laying down in the bed of the vehicle.  The initial investigation revealed Border Patrol Agents responded to the area, located the vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, agents witnessed several occupants flee while one occupant remained inside.

    On April 3, 2021, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) received a call on its 911 emergency line from an individual who stated he and two other people were in medical distress.  Utilizing the cellular signal, the YCSO determined the approximate location of the caller.  YCSO deputies and Border Patrol Agents (BPAs), including members of the Border Patrol’s Search and Rescue team as well as a BPA aboard an Arizona National Guard helicopter, responded to the area.  Personnel aboard the helicopter located the individuals and guided in BPAs on the ground.  When the BPAs reached the area,…

    On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Border Patrol agents working near Hidalgo, Texas, found a pregnant woman in need of medical attention near the Rio Grande. Agents immediately requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS). EMS arrived on scene and transported the migrant to a local hospital for care.

    Today, hospital personnel advised Border Patrol that the patient gave birth prematurely and that unfortunately the newborn passed away due to complications.

The suspect, an adult male, sustained a gunshot wound and immediately received medical attention. The agent was not injured.
