WASHINGTON—On August 31, Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske will begin a visit to San Diego and Tijuana to participate in the ‘Building Strong Border Communities’ events held jointly between CBP and the Government of Mexico. The joint community events, held in both San Diego and Tijuana, highlight the partnership between the two countries as well as the shared commitment to keep our border communities safe and secure. In addition, the Commissioner will also meet with the San Diego Association of Governments.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
