WASHINGTON—U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske will be in Providence today to deliver remarks to the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade. This event will highlight CBP’s commitment to the trade community through a continued focus on trade facilitation. On Thursday, Commissioner Kerlikowske will be traveling to Boston to meet with Boston City Officials, university students, and CBP employees to discuss CBP’s mission and work towards promoting economic vitality, business competitiveness, consumer safety and national security.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
