Citizen of Bosnia collapses at Washington-Dulles Airport
A Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States and citizen of Bosnia arrived with his wife at the Washington-Dulles Airport Port of Entry from Vienna, Austria, on September 27. The couple was admitted into the U.S. and then selected for a random agriculture inspection. The man collapsed onto the floor during the inspection and was unresponsive.
A Customs and Border Protection officer and certified EMT was dispatched to administer CPR and used an Automated External Defibrillator until Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority paramedics arrived and continued lifesaving efforts. MWAA transported the man to a local hospital in Reston, Virginia, where he was declared deceased.
This incident is being reviewed by CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility. The DHS Office of Inspector General was also notified of the incident.
