WASHINGTON—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been recognized as the only Federal agency in the “10 Best Companies for Veterans” list, assembled by Monster.com, for the second year in a row.
Each year around the eve of Veterans Day, Monster.com compiles a list of 10 companies they believe standout for their veteran hiring and retention practices. The selection process commenced with a panel of veteran hiring experts nominating top companies, and continued with Monster staff collecting data points based on a number of factors, including the percentage of veteran hires, recruitment plans, and special programs offered for onboarding, development, and retention.
“Veterans are vital to the success for CBP. We are honored to have Veterans represent 35 percent of CBP’s workforce,” said Acting Commissioner Kevin McAleenan. “This country is a model of freedom and democracy because our military has stepped up time and again to challenge tyranny and terror. At CBP, they continue to serve our nation honorably. They serve in uniform, patrolling our borders and guarding our ports of entry. They also work in all kinds of non-uniformed roles, from information technology to import specialist, from public affairs to procurement. We are a better, stronger Nation because of their service.”
Ranked third in the list, CBP continues to actively recruit and retain veterans.
“CBP is proud to provide veterans and transitioning service members with a wide array of exciting career opportunities. Our success reaffirms our commitment to them, and our continued collaboration with the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs,” said CBP Assistant Commissioner, Office of Human Resources Management, Linda L. Jacksta.
Over the last two years, CBP has implemented groundbreaking improvements to reform its hiring process and enhance the overall process for applicants, including the launch of a mobile app, CBP Jobs, which enables prospective agents and officers to track their progress through the hiring process.
CBP offers many frontline and non-frontline career opportunities for veterans and transitioning service members nation-wide and across the globe in more than 40 locations. Positions range from intelligence, to cybersecurity, to agriculture, to trade, to human resources. For more information on a career with CBP, visit CBP.gov/Careers and CBP’s Twitter account, @CBPJobs.
