Yuma Sector Assists Local Law Enforcement
YUMA, Ariz. – Wellton Station Border Patrol agents working at the Interstate 8 immigration checkpoint assisted in subduing an assaultive subject in the Foothills area Sunday.
Yuma County Sheriff’s Office contacted Yuma Sector Border Patrol dispatch and requested backup for an assaultive subject in a residential area. When agents responded to the scene, they witnessed the subject fighting with two YCSO personnel. The Wellton Station agents assisted in subduing the subject allowing for a safe arrest.
After his arrest, the 60-year-old man was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for precaution due to an elevated heart rate. No injuries were reported by the subject or law enforcement personnel. The suspect was later released from the hospital.
Charges for resisting arrest and drug offenses related to personal-use marijuana discovered inside the residence will be forwarded to the Yuma County Attorney’s Office.
