YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Blythe Integrated Targeting Team arrested two Mexican nationals Monday. The pair was carrying nearly $100,000 in unreported cash.
Around 9 p.m., two men, a 61-year-old and 20-year-old, were driving from Los Angeles to Nogales, Mexico, when agents stopped the vehicle on the Interstate-10 freeway near Tom Wells Road. A search of the vehicle revealed nearly $100,000 in cash. Subsequent interviews with the men uncovered that the money was picked up from a warehouse in Los Angeles.
The money and vehicle were seized.
Integrated Targeting Teams were established in Yuma Sector to enhance U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Counter Network Approach. They perform synchronized targeting of high-risk transnational and illicit criminal organizations, and are credited with locating numerous high-value Transnational Criminal Organization targets and stash houses. The Blythe ITT team is a part of the Sector Intelligence Unit at Yuma Sector.
