Yuma Sector Agents Recover Vehicle Loaded with Narcotics after Pursuit

YUMA, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint recovered a vehicle, which had fled from the checkpoint, loaded with nearly 16 pounds of marijuana.  

Tuesday evening, two male subjects in a Buick sedan with Nevada license plates fled from agents at the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint near Palo Verde, California. After pursuing the vehicle and losing visual, multiple agents conducted an extensive search and located the vehicle in the water at the Oxbow Recreation and Wildlife Area. The two suspects absconded after abandoning the vehicle. Agents searched the abandoned vehicle and found marijuana in the trunk. The marijuana weighed approximately 15.8 pounds and had an estimated street value of nearly $56,000.

Agents seized the drugs and vehicle for processing in accordance with Yuma Sector guidelines.
