DEL RIO, TEXAS—U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station apprehended a convicted sex offender Friday morning.
Agents patrolling northeast of Eagle Pass encountered Roberto Heyner Giron, 29, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala. During processing, agents discovered that Giron had been previously deported from the United States and is listed as a registered sex offender. Criminal records checks revealed Giron has a 2005 conviction out of Long Beach, N.Y. for rape and attempted criminal sexual act in the second degree.
Giron will be processed for removal from the United States and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.
