Uvalde Agents Foil Smuggling Attempt

Del Rio, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station seized 94 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $75,000.

Wednesday evening, a man driving a 1998 Chevrolet Venture entered the immigration checkpoint on Highway 90 near Uvalde. The driver of the vehicle was referred to a secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of contraband. A subsequent search yielded 65 small packages of marijuana hidden throughout the vehicle. The subject, a 28-year-old Del Rio resident, and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
