USVI CBP Officers Detain Two Individuals Sought By FBI
St. Thomas, V.I. - This weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers detained two United States citizens, 28-year old Jacob Eisemberger and 27-year old Joseph Herkovitz, prior to boarding a Continental Airlines flight.
Both subjects presented themselves for pre departure inspection at the Cyril E. King International Airport and during the examination CBP officers identified them as being sought by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in connection to charges of conspiracy to defraud (credit card fraud).
Both subjects had been passengers on board the M/V Ruby Princess Cruise ship where they allegedly committed the crime.
CBP Officers identified the subjects and contacted FBI agents, which immediately responded and placed them under arrest.
"Customs and Border Protection is an agency committed to securing our borders while at the same time cooperating with other law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of U.S. laws. CBP officers are always vigilant to detect individuals that have broken our laws and attempt to defeat our justice system." said Marcelino Borges, director of field operations for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
