Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge intercepted a woman for alleged violations of immigration law. The Mexico citizen allegedly attempted to facilitate the entry of a 42-year-old man into the United States without valid entry documents.
“This alleged smuggling attempt of a man from Mexico into the country was stopped by our CBP officers working on enforcing immigration laws at our country’s borders. This man will not be allowed to enter the country and the alleged smuggler will face federal charges thanks to the work on the front line by our CBP officers,” said Michael Freeman, CBP Port Director, Brownsville.
On Tuesday, March 4, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge a 40-year-old woman, citizen of Mexico who resides in Brownsville, Texas, her minor children and an adult female friend and her child applied for admission to enter the United States. The driver presented her duly issued legal permanent resident entry document for herself as well as U.S. birth certificates for the minor children. The adult passenger also presented entry documents for herself and her children. A CBP officer’s primary inspection of the vehicle resulted in the vehicle’s occupants being referred to CBP secondary for further inspection after an undocumented male was discovered hiding in the rear of the vehicle. In passport control secondary, CBP officers further determined the man is a 42-year-old citizen of Mexico with no legal documents to enter or reside in the United States.
CBP officers took the driver and the undocumented man into custody for alleged violations of immigration law. The 42-year-old man was processed as an undocumented alien and both will face federal charges. The adult female passenger and her children were released. The driver’s minor children were turned over to a family member.
