BUFFALO, N.Y. – Today, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Peace Bridge Port of Entry, Buffalo, N.Y. arrested a 20 year-old Buffalo native on an outstanding warrant for Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Additionally, a 27 year-old co-traveler, and Buffalo native, was arrested on separate charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Seventh Degree and Possession of Prescription Medicine Outside of the Original Container.
The arrest began shortly after midnight when both subjects possessed no identification at the time of the stop. CBP officers then confirmed the 20 year-old to be an exact match to an active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) warrant, wanted by the city of Buffalo Police Department for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Additionally, upon search of the vehicle, CBP officers discovered approximately 89 white pills, later identified as acetaminophen with hydrocodone, belonging to the 27 year-old passenger. “Our officers are the Nation’s first line of defense. The opioid epidemic continues to be a concern and our officers remain on the lookout for the possession of illegal prescription narcotics,” said Area Port Director Cary Frieling. “We continue to work closely with our local partners to ensure travelers with outstanding warrants and/or travelers who may possess illegal prescription narcotics, have their day in court.”
Buffalo Police took custody of the narcotics and two suspects.
