AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico –U.S. Border Patrol and the Puerto Rico Police Department Joint Forces for Rapid Action (FURA, in Spanish) apprehended Tuesday 17 illegal aliens from the Dominican Republic (14 adult males, 3 adult females) following an interdiction near Rincon, Puerto Rico.
Near noon, a FURA Maritime Unit, a Stonegarden partner, intercepted a “yola” type vessel transporting illegal aliens, attempting to make entry into Puerto Rico approximately half a mile west of Steps Beach in Rincon.
FURA requested support from all law enforcement partners as the vessel was unsafe and posed a risk to the safety of all subjects onboard. A CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) marine unit responded and assisted by safely transporting the 17 illegal aliens to a pier in Añasco.
Border Patrol Agents arrested and transported the 17 illegal aliens to the Ramey Border Patrol Station for criminal prosecution and/or removal proceedings.
On Monday, Border Patrol, PRPD and Camuy Municipal Police apprehended 4 aliens from the Dominican Republic after landing near Camuy, Puerto Rico.
The Operation Stonegarden Grant Program (OPSG) is designed to enhance cooperation and coordination from the U.S. Border Patrol with local, tribal, territorial, state and federal law enforcement agencies in a joint mission to secure the border.
