HIDALGO, Texas—A man wanted out of Oakland, Calif. for a sex offense, continuous sexual abuse of child, is now in custody after returning from visiting family in Mexico.
“Keeping our communities safe by apprehending travelers with outstanding warrants is part of our daily commitment to CBP’s border security mission,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry. “I applaud our officers for this outstanding apprehension.”
On April 5, CBP officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered 33-year-old Francisco Alejandro Ortiz Gonzalez, a United States citizen from Oakland, California as he arrived as a pedestrian. CBP officers conducted a primary examination on the male pedestrian arriving from Mexico and referred him to secondary inspection for further examination due to a possible match to an outstanding warrant.
In secondary, a subsequent biometric verification utilizing national law enforcement databases confirmed the man was wanted for a felony sex offense, continuous sexual abuse of child in Oakland, Calif.
The man was immediately taken into custody and turned over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for adjudication of the warrant.
Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
