Tucson Man Arrested for Smuggling 6 Aliens

TUCSON, Ariz. –Border Patrol agents from the Tucson Station stopped a sedan traveling east along State Route 86 near Three Points on Saturday afternoon to conduct an immigration inspection. As a result, agents arrested the driver traveling with six illegal aliens and a loaded handgun.

After agents stopped a Chevy Malibu with two visible occupants for an immigration inspection, they observed five more people attempting to hide in the back seat. Agents contacted the Tohono O’odham Police Department for assistance and later found a loaded pistol under the driver’s seat.

Agents arrested the driver, identified as a 25-year-old male U.S. citizen, for human smuggling. The illegal aliens, five from Guatemala and one from Mexico, were arrested for immigration violations. Agents turned the gun, vehicle, suspects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
