Smugglers use fake road service vehicle to smuggle illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley

HARLINGEN, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Harlingen Station encountered what appeared to be a road service vehicle being used toImposter road service vehicle used to smuggle illegal immigrants transport illegal immigrants on Thursday.

Attempting to avoid detection, smugglers used a pickup truck disguised as a utility or service vehicle. The vehicle was observed dropping off four illegal immigrants whom agents quickly apprehended.  The driver of the fake service truck fled the area on foot after being approached by agents. A thorough search of the area was conducted but the driver was not located.

The disguised vehicle was seized and found to not be registered to any service or construction company. The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and report suspicious activity at 800-863-9382.
