LA ROSITA, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents disrupt narcotic smuggling attempt.
Thursday, Rio Grande City agents working in La Rosita, Texas, observed subjects loading marijuana bundles into a black Ford Expedition. The driver then left the area at a high rate of speed. Agents followed the vehicle and shortly thereafter, the driver bailed out after causing property damage to a farm fence. A search of the vehicle revealed six bundles of marijuana weighing more than 350 pounds worth an estimated $285,000.00. Agents were not able to locate the driver. The Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the narcotics. Border Patrol turned the vehicle over to the Starr County Sheriff’s Office.
