Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents rescue 35 people at Falfurrias Checkpoint

FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector rescued 35 people concealed in aBorder Patrol Agents discovered 35 subjects hidden in trailer tractor-trailer early Sunday morning. 

The rescue occurred when a man, who is a United States citizen, approached the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 North in a tractor-trailer. During an immigration inspection, a service K-9 alerted to the tractor-trailer. Upon further inspection, agents found 35 undocumented aliens locked inside the trailer. All subjects were offered medical attention but declined. The driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested on alien smuggling charges.

The case was referred to the RGV Sector Prosecutions Office and the vehicle involved was seized by Border Patrol.
