EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents provided first aid to the passenger of a Jeep Liberty that was involved in a rollover accident near amseyer Road and U.S. Highway 281 North on Monday.
Agents were heading back to their station when they witnessed a rollover in which a man was ejected from the vehicle. The agents immediately called an ambulance and began performing first aid on the man who was not breathing at the time. With the assistance of an off-duty fireman, the agents opened the victim’s airway and also applied pressure to a head wound.
Border Patrol agents are well-trained in life saving techniques and are often the first to respond to the scene of an accident due to the remote areas in which they work. It is also common for an agent to assist another agency in lifesaving efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities.
