The man, who is from El Salvador, was attempting to circumvent the Falfurrias Checkpoint when he became severely dehydrated and placed a call to the Brooks County Emergency Dispatch Center. An OAM helicopter responded to the area and located the man. Agents immediately began to provide first aid and rendered medical attention. After further assessing the man’s condition, it was determined he would need further medical care. Due to the ruggedness of the terrain, the decision was made to airlift the man to an ambulance.
