Rio Grande Valley agents arrest convicted felons, gang member

EDINBURG, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested numerous criminals over the last few days, including two felons and an MS-13 gang member.

The most significant arrest occurred when Border Patrol Station agents arrested an adult male Mexican national near Lyford, Texas. During processing, record checks revealed that in 1991 he was arrested for Murder by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. In 1992 he was convicted and sentenced to 15 years confinement.

July 19, 2017, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City, Texas Border Patrol Station apprehended an adult male Guatemalan national near Roma, Texas. During processing, record checks revealed that the subject had been arrested in 2007 by the Lynn Police Department in Massachusetts for a Rape Offense. In 2009 he was convicted and sentenced to 4 years.

On July 18, 2017, agents assigned to the McAllen, Texas Border Patrol Station apprehended an adult male Salvadorian national near Hidalgo, Texas. During processing, record checks revealed that the subject was an MS-13 Gang Member.

All subjects were referred for prosecution and removal from the United States.
