TUCSON, Ariz. –U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Defense conducted a joint large-scale operational readiness exercise at the Port of Nogales, DeConcini Crossing today.
The exercises were training in preparation to deal with the potential of large crowds and assaultive behavior by caravan members. They included tactical operations with the use of role players and inert smoke to simulate real world environments. This training will allow our officers to respond tactically should a situation arise.
There were no impacts to port operations or the traveling public.
CBP’s highest priority is the safety and security of the American people, the traveling public, CBP personnel, and the communities served.
