PHARR, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility discovered cocaine worth $740,000 in a commercial truck arriving from Mexico.
“This interception of hard narcotics, just days after a previous detection in another commercial truck demonstrates our officers’ vigilance,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas. “There is no down-time in our line of work.”
This seizure occurred on Sep. 30 at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility. After noting discrepancies on the truck with this part of the exam, officers continued with a thorough inspection utilizing all available tools and resources and ultimately discovered 40 packages of alleged cocaine hidden within the truck.
OFO seized the truck, the cocaine that weighed 96 pounds (43.5 kg) and arrested the driver, a Matamoros, Tamaulipas resident. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) continue with the investigation.
