Apprehend Twins Wanted for Attempted Murder

SAN DIEGO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the San Ysidro PedWest facility apprehended twin brothers wanted for an attempted homicide incident in San Diego on Friday.

“CBP officers perform the crucial job of inspecting every person that enters the United States,” said Pete Flores, director of field operations for CBP in San Diego. “Because of their diligence, these two men will now face the charges against them.”

At about 7 p.m., Nov. 2, Mexican officials escorted two male U.S. citizens, Anibal Avila and Edward Avila, both 27-years-old to CBP officers at the PedWest facility.  Officers ran their information against law enforcement databases and were alerted that the men were wanted. Officers escorted them to a secure location for further processing.

Further investigation revealed each man was wanted by the San Diego Police Department on felony arrest warrants for murder and attempted murder, with bail set at $3 million.

Both men were transferred to the custody of San Diego Police Detectives and were booked into the San Diego County Jail.

Criminal charges are merely allegations.  Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
