EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Camino Real International Port of Entry prevented a shipment of narcotics from making entry into the United States.
1.28 pounds of alleged crystal
methamphetamine.
“This interception of dangerous drugs truly exemplifies the teamwork of our officers working at our port,” said Port Director John Brandt, Eagle Pass Port of Entry. “CBP officers used their training and experience to deter the narcotics from making it to its intended destination.”
On Jan. 12, officers at the Camino Real International Bridge inspected a 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor, driven by a U.S. citizen, as it arrived from Mexico. The man was accompanied by a U.S. citizen woman. Officers utilized a CBP canine and a non-intrusive imaging system for inspection and discovered a package of alleged narcotics within the floor of the vehicle. CBP officers retrieved a total of 1.28 pounds of alleged crystal methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $56,379.
The 41-year-old man and 34-year-old woman both from Batesville, were arrested by CBP officers and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigations. CBP officers seized the narcotics and vehicle.
