Nogales, Ariz. — A Huachuca City man was arrested yesterday for attempting to smuggle nearly 33 pounds of hard drugs, valued at just over $481,000, into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred the man for an additional inspection of his Dodge truck at the Mariposa Port of Entry. During the inspection, officers found more than 15 pounds of heroin and almost 18 pounds of methamphetamine in the truck’s dash area.
The drugs and vehicle were processed for seizure. The driver was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
