NOGALES, Ariz. — A California man with an active arrest warrant was arrested yesterday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the Port of Nogales.

Officers referred Jorge Santiago-Cortez, 28, of Los Angeles, for additional questioning when he attempted to enter the United States through the Mariposa pedestrian crossing. During a routine records check, officers discovered Santiago was wanted on an outstanding extraditable arrest warrant for kidnapping out of California. Santiago was arrested and turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department without further incident.
