Morgan City, La. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers from the Morgan City Port of Entry recently apprehended a 39-year-old male fugitive with an outstanding felony warrant out of Orange Beach, Alabama for two counts of theft and one count of resisting arrest.

The subject arrived into Port Fourchon, La., aboard a vessel that was working in the U.S. Gulf. CBP officers identified the man during pre-arrival computer checks of law enforcement databases. Once the warrant and extradition were confirmed, CBP and Port Fourchon Harbor Police officers boarded the vessel and after positively identifying the subject, took the individual into custody. Robert S. White was turned over to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and is waiting extradition to Alabama.

"In addition to our primary mission of anti-terrorism, CBP secures the homeland by keeping wanted criminals from entering our society," said Michael Hebert, U.S. Customs and Border Protection port director in Morgan City. "This arrest is a result of the daily vigilance and dedication displayed by our officers."

During Fiscal Year 2009, more than 9,500 people wanted for a variety of charges, to include serious crimes such as murder, rape, and child molestation were apprehended at CBP ports of entry.
