Marijuana Smuggling Attempt Halted at Alamo River
Calexico, Calif. - U.S. Border Patrol agents working near the Calexico East port of entry arrested seven illegal aliens with more than 840 pounds of marijuana yesterday.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m., when Calexico agents located several men hiding in a spillway that connects the Alamo River with Mexico. Closer inspection of the area resulted in the discovery of several bundles of marijuana valued at an estimated $670,000.
Each of the smugglers was transported to the Calexico Border Patrol station where they admitted to being Mexican nationals illegally present in the U.S.
