LAREDO, TX – The Laredo Sector Border Patrol welcomed seven Border Patrol agent trainees.  These newly hired agents will be leaving for the Border Patrol Academy located in Artesia, New Mexico for several months of training.

The Border Patrol Academy is one of the most rigorous and demanding law enforcement training programs in the country  that provides all Border Patrol-specific courses, which include immigration and nationality law, applied authority, Border Patrol operations, firearms training, physical techniques and defensive tactics, motor vehicle operation, and anti-terrorism training. 

Locally, the trainees will receive additional local orientation training.  They will be assigned to the Laredo South and North Stations.  Chief Patrol Agent Mario Martinez welcomed the agents to Laredo Sector and said, “I have no doubt that all of you will rise to the challenge.  You are now part of the Border Patrol, welcome to our Sector.”
