Laredo Sector Border Patrol Seizes Marijuana Bundles

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized several bundles of marijuana near the Rio Grande River.

The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on January 12, when agents assigned to the Laredo North Station received a report of several individuals on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande River preparing to illegally cross several bundles of suspected marijuana into the U.S.  Agents encountered the individuals in the brush as they were attempting to load the bundles into a nearby vehicle.  The subjects dropped the bundles and absconded back to Mexico.  The agents intercepted the vehicle, driven by a United States citizen and seized a total of eight bundles of marijuana abandoned in the vicinity.

The marijuana had a total weight of 745.60 lbs. with an approximate street value of $596,480.  The vehicle was seized by the United States Border Patrol.  The case was referred to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
