Laredo Sector Border Patrol Seizes Large Narcotics Load

LAREDO, Texas – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Freer Station seized a large narcotics load south of Freer, Texas.

The incident occurred during the early afternoon of May 11, when agents performed a vehicle stop on a pickup truck hauling a trailer on State Highway 16.  The trailer appeared to be loaded with a stack of plywood.  A service canine alerted agents to the trailer.

After further investigation of the cargo, agents discovered 30 bundles of marijuana in a hollowed out space within the stacked plywood.  The bundles had a total weight of 485.21 lbs. with an approximate value of $388,168.  The case was turned over to the Duval County Sheriff's Office for prosecution.
