LAREDO, Texas – Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector Border Patrol have been presenting at elementary schools and learning centers on the dangers of drugs through participation in drug prevention activities. The presentations for Red Ribbon week serve to promote and encourage youth participation in drug prevention activities.
The presentations vary based on age groups and kick-off with the history of Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Enrique Camarena who lost his life fighting the war on drugs. Border Patrol agents proceed with a Stay Drug Free video presentation, followed with an interactive environment for the students. The Border Patrol canine program provides an educational demonstration on the role and responsibility of a canine. The presentation culminates with the Red Ribbon Stay Drug Free Pledge. The presentations are a proactive effort in engaging with young children to advocate that they grow up safe, healthy and drug-free.
