Laredo Sector Border Patrol Honors May Youth of the Month

Laredo, Texas – For over 30 years, the Laredo Sector Border Patrol has been recognizing outstanding high school seniors for their excellent academic achievements and significant community service. On April 25, 2018, the Youth of the Month recipients for May were announced at a prestigious ceremony at United South High School. The Laredo Sector Border Patrol presented seniors from 11 Laredo high schools with the prominent Youth of the Month Award.

The Youth of the Month program has recognized Laredo’s top high school seniors for over 30 years. Together, with the collaboration of program partners, one student is selected each month from the Laredo-area high schools as the Laredo Sector Border Patrol Youth of the Month. At the end of the school year, 11 Youth of the Month recipients are considered for the prestigious Border Patrol Youth of the Year award. Acting Patrol Agent in Charge Enrique Martinez, a former student and graduate of United South High School, was the guest speaker and congratulated the recipients of the Youth of the Month.

  • R&T Martin High School- Giselle Sonnier Ruiz
  • St. Augustine High School- Cristina Isabel Carrillo
  • Texas Academy of International and STEM Studies- Desireah Rodman
  • United High School- Montserrat Garza
  • United South High School- Jacqueline Maldonado
